While ringing doorbells in one Albany neighborhood in recent weeks, one of Jennings’ recruits, Scott Mannarino, who is running in the First Ward, decided to play up the endorsement he received from the Albany Fire Department (Jennings’ guy in Democratic Headquarters, Chair Dan McCoy, is a member of the department). Anyway, Mannarino informed at least one voter — how many more heard this is not clear at this point — that if they did not support him and show it by taking a sign, they might very well experience a slow response time should they call 911 in a fire or medical emergency.

As we reported yesterday, Scott Mannarino, who has been endorsed by the Albany Fire Department, has told some Albany voters that if they do not support him and/or take his lawn sign (he has a thing about lawn signs), that they may find that in the event of an emergency, the Albany Fire Department (which, in a moment of insanity endorsed him) may decide to respond just a little slower to their 911 call.

Seriously.

I don’t know about you, but I take people’s lives and safety seriously.

Interestingly the Albany Observer has been told that the Albany Fire Department is now planning to spend Primary Day at the Parks’ Building on Hoffman Avenue, where a large number of First Ward Election Districts vote. They’ll be there in shifts, five at a time. They’ll probably have a truck there, too.

So, when you see the Albany Fire Department on Tuesday, those of you who live in the First Ward, shake your head in disgust and go in there and pull the lever against corruption.

What’s New?

• Betty Barnette still won’t debate her opponent, Kathy Sheehan, in the City Treasurer’s race. If you would like to see such an event, contact Ms Barnette at (518) 438-5150 (evenings or weekends). We suspects she’s too busy burning out shredding machines down in her office to take any time away for something like a debate.
• Common Council candidate, Scott Mannarino, who is running against incumbent Dominick Calsolaro, has been telling folks that he’s married as he goes door to door campaigning. He was telling someone in the store the other day, too. We have eyes and ears everywhere. Scott, you are not married. That’s a fact. You’re scaring us — and your neighbors. We don’t know if Scotty reads this, but if someone who knows him does, will you tell him he’s not married?
• In a related story, Scotty continues to tell people that he is a police officer. You see, Scott Mannarino seems to have a vivid fantasy life. Now Scott, we had you looked up and, guess what? You are NOT a police officer. You’re not a deputy police officer. You’re not a sheriff or a US Marshall. You’re a security guard who is not even licensed to carry a gun.  That fact, on the other hand, is comforting to both us and your neighbors.
• Jennings’ sanity called into question over his endorsement of some candidates this election season.
• When asked about the surge of gun violence in the City of Albany, Jerry Jennings said, “Let’s move on. That’s in the past.” (We didn’t actually hear him say that, but he probably did, cause he usually does say stupid things like that.) Someone mentioned something to us recently that the reason crime statistics are reportedly  down in Albany is because they decided to take homicide out of the calculations. No, seriously, that’s what they said. Isn’t that like saying that car accidents are down (as long as you take DWI’s out of the calculations)?
• In other news, the Albany Observer endorsements will be coming out very soon.

Dan Van Riper again shows good research and insights — and humor — in his take on some of the unlikely candidates in the common council races.

Oh, and listen to Regina Goodbee try to convince the voters that Scott Mannarino is normal. Yes, that’s what she says. Not making that up. When’s the last time you had someone make a campaign call trying to make your candidate be seen as “normal.” I can only assume she’s heard from a lot of people that his normality is a question.  Anyone whose best buddy and campaign spokesperson is Brian Scavo …. well, we’ll save that for another day.

True to our article from two days ago, Jennings has turned into the neighborhood bully. Jennings and the democratic machine have begun making negative robo calls. One of their targets of bullying is popular council member, Dominick Calsolaro. We hope to post a copy of the call soon.
